  1. Short and Fuzzy - Madeira Day 3
  2. 24 Jan 2007 at 7:59am

Short and Fuzzy podcastShort and Fuzzy episode 5 is out now and this episode is our Day 3 holiday recap recorded on a noisy little mini-disc as we chronicled our holiday experiences in Madeira.
We’ve got a total of seven Madeira podcasts, and this one is the fourth in that series.

Short and Fuzzy is a podcast and I’m fifty percent of it. It’s a half hour show of Neil and I gabbing on about whatever is in our heads. It’s unscripted and, for the most part, unedited.

Short and Fuzzy will be running the Madeira episodes at a rate of two per week and then we’ll settle into a once a week regular schedule for new podcasts in the general gab vein.

We stay on topic in this episode! :D We are at the end of day three of our Madeira holiday and we have a hired car! The car gave us the freedom to road trip up the East coast of Madeira where we enjoyed Santa Cruz, Machico, Caniçal, and Porto da Cruz. We talk about gorgeous lava formations and twisty roads, sketching a scene for better memories, the incredible engineering of the Madeira airport runways, the wild variety of island vegetation, a tiny black sand beach, limpets, and the car-chasing dog that guarded the roundabout near the restaurant where we had dinner.
    Enjoy!

We stay on topic in this episode as well (mostly…)! It’s the ‘tipsycast’ though we sound no more silly than usual really. We’re talking about our car trip up the middle of the island to some of the highest elevations, the Jungle Rain Café and its glorious pizza (made above the clouds in the middle of nowhere), going to the places the guidebook ignores, sea-fed lidos, and more.
    Enjoy!

  5. Short and Fuzzy - The last of the Madeira diaries
  6. 29 Mar 2007 at 4:29am

Short and Fuzzy podcastShort and Fuzzy episode 7 is out now and this episode is our Day 6 holiday recap recorded on a noisy little mini-disc as we chronicled our holiday experiences in Madeira.
This is the final of seven Madeira podcasts. I was busy this week and completely forgot to announce this episode release sooner! The next Short and Fuzzy will be recorded soon… and will be numbered in a way that makes sense. ;)
Short and Fuzzy is a podcast and I’m fifty percent of it. It’s a half hour show of Neil and I gabbing on about whatever is in our heads. It’s unscripted and, for the most part, unedited.

Episode Notes: The Final Day: The Saunacast! There is little better than a relaxing final day before the journey home. Great snoozing, German tourist habits, the sauna - sweat is different to wet, you know - discovering Poncha and the rather healthy stray cats and dogs all around. This is our final holidaycast for this year, recorded during our November 2006 visit to Madeira.
    Good times!

Our next Short and Fuzzy will likely happen after the move. I’d love for it to be sooner, but there are other priorities ahead of recording a new show right now. The next one will be fresh and current— I can at least tell you that much!
    Thank you for listening!

  7. Short and Fuzzy - Better Late than Never - Madeira Day 5
  8. 11 Mar 2007 at 5:27pm

Short and Fuzzy podcastShort and Fuzzy episode 6 is out now and this episode is our Day 5 holiday recap recorded on a noisy little mini-disc as we chronicled our holiday experiences in Madeira.
We’ve got a total of seven Madeira podcasts, and this one is the sixth in that series.
(I promise the numbering will make more sense after the Madeira stuff is done.)

Short and Fuzzy is a podcast and I’m fifty percent of it. It’s a half hour show of Neil and I gabbing on about whatever is in our heads. It’s unscripted and, for the most part, unedited.

There’s also Winamp, Real, and RSS feeds on the BTPS page.

Episode Notes: A lazy morning lay-in after the previous ‘tipsy-cast’ and it’s a day out in Funchal, the capital city of Madira. We’re rapidly running our budget dry so it’s cheap pizza all round. Travelling up to misty Monte on the Funchal cable car, and returning by taxi - not the Monte toboggan run! - because the weather closes in. Stormy seas, stormy skies, and stormy winds, then some local dancing entertainment at the hotel, and I learn snooker.
    Good times!

We have one more episode of the Madeira holiday to release (soon) and after that we plan on getting our butts in gear with all new material. We’re itching to do it, so as soon as we can nail down time together for recording, we’re on it! Sorry for the delay in the podcast - regular readers of my blog or Neil’s know that it’s been a bit crazy around here lately. Our next Short and Fuzzy may happen after the move. I’d love for it to be sooner, but I’m not going to put that kind of pressure on us right now.
    Thanks for listening!

  10. 19 Jan 2007 at 6:57am

Short and Fuzzy podcastShort and Fuzzy episode 4 is out now and is the third release of a seven part series recorded nightly on a noisy little mini-disc as we chronicled our holiday experiences in Madeira. (The previous two episodes were split into 1a and 1b due to our first day of recording running a bit long.) :)

Short and Fuzzy is a podcast and I’m fifty percent of it. It’s a half hour show of Neil and I gabbing on about whatever is in our heads. It’s unscripted and, for the most part, unedited.

In this episode we are at the end of day two of our Madeira holiday and have looked into diving and Neil tells me about The Bends, I fuss with my iPod photo storage, we postpone our trip to Funchal and book a rental car (for day three+), looking forward to 580 meters of cliff to see, we walk around Caniço, just say no to internet connections on holiday, pizza is always good, terraced lidos on the sea, loving the saltwater pool at the hotel, and games and entertainment for the hotel guests (including a cheeky parrot). And that’s only halfway through the episode…
    Enjoy!

  11. Short and Fuzzy unleashed for the New Year
  12. 1 Jan 2007 at 2:59pm

Just before the old year was up and the new one started slipping in under the gap in the door, our new podcast spluttered into the open last night.

We actually recorded each night while on holiday in Madeira back in November - I suppose it could be called a holiday diary - but during last night’s attempts to record introductions to the Madeira series (7 in all), we started waffling about the New Year and half an hour later had something too timely to wait weeks to be released.

  13. Short & Fuzzy Episode 2 up and running
  14. 7 Jan 2007 at 9:47am

The second episode - which is actually the first half of the first episode of our holiday diary - is up and ready to download: Short & Fuzzy website.

Thanks to me being a dumb-ass and forgetting the audio cable connector to distance the mic from the minidisc, the audio quality is rather poor compared to what we achieve in the ’studio’.

This episode is the first part of our Madeira Chronicles, recorded each night during our November 2006 vacation to Madeira. We talk about the holiday, our experiences and as ever just wherever the conversation leads.

Visit the BTPodShow page or click the player below to tune in. To be sure of getting the next episode as soon as it is released, subscribe to the this RSS, or subscribe with iTunes.

I don’t even remember what all is said on this episode and I’m too tired to listen tonight, so I’ll have to save the cringing at my own voice (and what it says) until tomorrow! :P

Now, back to some reading and bedtime!

  21. Short and Fuzzy
  22. 2 Jan 2007 at 5:25pm

Short and Fuzzy podcastNo, it’s not how I keep the grass on the playground mowed (That’s not for this post; long time readers probably already know that intimate information anyway. Sorry Mom… ;) ).
Nope, Short and Fuzzy is a podcast and I’m fifty percent of it. It’s a half hour show of Neil and I gibbering on about whatever is in our heads. It’s unscripted and, for the most part, unedited.
You’ve been warned and now you’re getting the link (pick one that appeals to your geekness):

You can subscribe in any of a variety of ways if that’s your wish. You can also listen to them individually right off the page there or from Neil’s blog posts an nouncing each new episode. (I’ll also announce them here, but he has a fancy Wordpress player for podcasts installed.)

We had planned on the first one being part of our Madeira holiday nightly diary, but we got carried away recording some intro material and banged out a New Year’s podcast without any trouble. So I’ve done it: a real podcast and not some cheesy audio blog entry like I tried in the past. Cue it up and hear my wacky mid-Atlantic accent in all its recorded glory and enjoy Short and Fuzzy for all its silliness. :D

  24. 11 Jul 2007 at 2:12pm

  38. 30 Apr 2007 at 5:04pm

Short and Fuzzy podcastShort and Fuzzy episode 8 is out now and this episode is all new and fresh from the sofa of our new flat. No more talk about Madeira! (Though it is a fabulous place.)

    About the show:
Short and Fuzzy is an all talk podcast and I’m fifty percent of it. It’s around a half hour of Neil and I gabbing on about whatever is in our heads. It’s unscripted and, for the most part, unedited. This means not necessarily safe for work, y’all. ;) You’ve been warned and now you’re getting the link
(pick one that appeals to you):

There’s also Windows Media Player, Winamp, Real, and RSS feeds on the BTPS page.

Episode Notes: Welcome to a fresh new episode of Short and Fuzzy! Recorded from our new living room (we’ve recently moved) Jen and Neil chat on the sofa about the purpose of bathroom rugs, going low-tech without Sky+, Jen sorts some socks, Neil’s email order bride is paid for, the stress of her immigration, and why you should never carry someone else’s bag at the airport. Despite a super busy April, we’re pretty chilled. We may not be in Madeira anymore, but life is still pretty good.

Our next all new Short and Fuzzy has already been recorded and will likely be up next week.
    Thank you for listening!
